If you learn the basics and tricks of how to get more settlers in Fallout 4, you can increase your population in a very short period. After scrapping junk and building a settlement, your settlement is bound to thrive. That’s if you have enough settlers that can do all the other necessary work. Hence, you must rally people to come to your settlement as it is a core part of the game. By default, your settlement will have ten settlers and an extra settler for every point you have in Charisma. The recruitment beacon won’t attract as many settlers; hence you’ll need to recruit more settlers. Below is some guidance on how to get more settlers in Fallout 4.
Ensure Your Settlement is Happy
The only way you can make your settlers happy is by ensuring all the basic necessities are available to them. Thus, you’ll be able to attract more settlers. Make sure the settlement has water pumps, extra beds, and everyone is fed. This is the primary way of how to get more settlers in Fallout 4. There are three ways of making sure your settlers are happy, as listed below:
Plant More Food
Food is a basic necessity, and every settlement requires a certain amount of food depending on the number of settlers. Therefore, you should aim to plant more food in your settlement if you want to attract more settlers. Create a workshop bench in the settlement. Thereafter, enter the workshop mode, select resources, and food. Lastly, select plants to grow in your settlement. Each plant produces a certain amount of food. Assign a few settlers to harvest the food you’ve planted once it’s ready for harvest.
Have Enough Water
No settler would want to stay thirsty; hence you need to make sure you have enough water. To do this, enter the workshop mode, there you’ll find water under resources. Click on water pump and other water producing machinery. Place the water pumps on given locations in your settlement to provide sufficient water for your settlers.
Have enough beds to accommodate more settlers.
Some settlements already have existing beds; hence you might not need to have extra beds. However, other settlements have fewer beds than required; thus, you’ll need to make some more. To do this, go to the workshop mode and see the number of available beds. Thereafter, decide on the number of extra beds you need to make. Keep in mind that each settler requires one bed; hence the more number of beds you have, the more settlers you’ll get.
Have a Recruitment Radio Beacon
This radio beacon will help you broadcast recruitment calls all over the commonwealth and rally new troops into your settlement. Go to the build menu, click on the power section, then the miscellaneous section and there you will see the Recruitment Radio Beacon. Thereafter, Find a good location in your settlement where you can place the beacon. From the build menu, head to the power section and get a generator to power up the beacon—press Space to connect the generator to the Recruitment Radio Beacon via a wire. When the Recruitment Radio Beacon is connected to the power and starts broadcasting recruitment calls, all you need to do is wait. The recruitment beacon won’t attract as many settlers; hence you’ll need to use other ways to attract more settlers.
Have Proper Defense for your Settlement
Defense is crucial to survival in the wastelands. If your sanctuary doesn’t have a good defense, you won’t be able to attract settlers. Moreover, you will be vulnerable to attacks by radioactive creatures. Also, there are hostile raiders ready to claim a spoil of war if you have a weak defense. Hence, it is vital to ensure that your settlement has proper defense. The first thing you need to do is build Guard Posts or Towers around your settlement. Thereafter, select a few settlers and assign them to the Guard Posts.
Transfer settlers between settlements that you own
Well, this is only applicable to players that own more than one settlement in the commonwealth. Enter the workshop mode, find a settler that you want to transfer, and click on ‘move.’ Select the preferred settlement, and he’ll be moved.
