Are you look for a Sennheiser HD 205 Review you can trust? Do you just buy any headphone that you come across? You are missing something great! Think of it: When you buy a set of Sennheiser HD 205 headphones, you are sure that you have chosen to go with professional sound quality. Indeed, the sound quality offered by the device is simply top-notch. With large cushions found on the earpieces and the headband, the HD205 is a pleasure to wear even for extended periods. They feel cool and professional sitting on your head.

Remarkably, after wide research, comparing many different models and competitors claiming to be superior, I discovered that it is priced much lower. I went on to read a variety of reviews, convinced that I could stumble on something better. I was merely disappointed. In the end, I can confidently declare that I have yet to find any other headphone, of this remarkable price range, that even comes near to rival the sound quality of the Sennheiser HD 205 headphone.

First Impressions

Straight of the box, you will be impressed with what is offered by the manufacturers of this fantastic product. On unpackaging, you will find, basically, that the Sennheiser HD 205-II is an over the head ear design with a shape that is semi-enclosed. It sells, on average, for $79.95 on retail. The ear cups come with hypoallergenic pads and can be easily rotated. Just try it! This certainly makes it easier to use. The pads are especially useful for single-ear listening during those times when you dare venture into mixing or sharing music with friends.

Admittedly, the headphones are made from plastic but, happily, these are pretty robust, lightweight material. You will discover that the Sennheiser HD 205 actually weighs less than one pound. This automatically makes the HD 205 to be a very ideal headphone, great for listening long term, while on- the- go. The Sennheiser HD 205 earpiece also comes with a single 10-foot cable. This is cleverly terminated with an eighth-inch plug. The plug has a- quarter-inch screw-on adaptor. This type of adaptor is great for the larger headphone inputs. It works wonderfully on headphone inputs that are featured on many headphone amplifiers and preamps.

Generally, Sennheiser products do not come, as you might expect, with an ultra-modern cutting edge, striking design. Rather, the product is better- known for its superb functionality and convenience. This set, which is under discussion, is no different. Although it is more impressive in appearance than some of its sister models, the HD205 DJ headphones cannot be described as head-turners like, for instance, the Sony MDR-700 or the Pioneer HDJ-1000 model. It is only modest.

When you bring it home from the shop, The HD205 comes with a long cord. It can, however, be a little disappointing to some users since the cord is not coiled as they would expect. This might make it get in the way during a set. Happily, Sennheiser designed the product in such a way that the users can slide one of the earpieces either to the left or right, as they please. This added feature is fantastic since it allows the DJs to simultaneously listen to the live track in one ear and the music mix in the other. Although this is a great feature for a set of headphones offered at this price point, most users would probably have been delighted if both earpieces came with this gorgeous ability, not just one.

Audio Quality

You will discover that the Sennheiser HD 205 model of headphones sound surprisingly good. The element of surprise especially comes if you originally purchased them for podcast recording/monitoring purposes rather than for the raw enjoyment of music. You will, indeed, be surprised to discover that, behind the headphone’s DJ credentials and appearance lurks an audiophile heart. You will likely find the Sennheiser HD 205 to be pleasantly balanced throughout. Moreover, it has an airy, slightly lean high- end, offsetting the deep, tuneful bottom -end.

Happily, the bass will, likely, not rattle your brain in the way that other DJ and/or studio monitoring headphones usually do. It is a definite plus that the headphones will not leave you seeking medical attention for a concussion.  Moreover, the Sennheiser HD 205-II’s midrange is pleasantly nice, offering a smooth demeanor that just touches a lean, much like the high-end. All in all, the Sennheiser HD 205-II carries detail, texture, and excellent dynamics. These, combined with its semi-enclosed design, produces one hell of a personal two-channel performance. You don’t want to miss it!

Realistically, the Sennheiser HD 205-II is definitely not a noise-canceling device. Instead, it is merely noise- shielding. Coming with its large cushions found on the earpieces and the headband, the HD205 is a pleasure to wear even for extended periods. Like any other product, the Sennheiser HD 205-II has its downsides too. The device can sound downright awful if the music is poorly recorded music or originates from lower resolution downloads much like those found on iTunes.

In our modern electronic world where headphones have fast become a fashion accessory, the Sennheiser HD 205-II lack some vital style points, with their black and grey ensemble, packaged in vanilla. It just doesn’t seem to be cool. The HD 205-IIs, while good, lacks some audiophile flare. This is definitely a shame since they are, otherwise, truly capable performers. Finally, the Sennheiser HD 205-II is a little bit stiff out of the box. Moreover, they take a bit of break-in, physically and audibly, before offering their very best performance.

The Sennheiser HD 205 undoubtedly represents an awesome musical value, fantastic for today’s music lover on- the- go. True, the Sennheiser HD 205 isn’t as physically attractive as some of its peers. It is not nearly audible enough for some users, but it definitely has its strengths. You are well-advised to take the leap and buy a pair; you won’t regret it.

For one, you will find them quite ideal for plugging into your iPod or iPhone. You just need to hit the play button and get on with life. Having personally done this, I found the Sennheiser to be one knee-jerk audio purchase that I am proud of to-date. I highly recommend it to everyone. The verdict? The Sennheiser HD205 headphones come at a great price. They will, doubtless, offer excellent value for your money. Moreover, they are affordable for new DJs and feature excellent sound quality. Indeed, they are a great comfort for professionals. We hope you’ve found this Sennheiser HD 205 review helpful.
